It is that time of year where breaths are bated as the world awaits, watching to see who will bag home the prestigious International Emmy Award.

This year, Brazil and Portugal have been well represented and we will showcase the nominees and their categories in the list below:

1. Telenovela

This year, Portugal is our representative for the International Emmy Awards for Best Telenovela, as SIC's riveting tale of action and deceit, Tangled Lives ( Vidas Opostas ). The telenovela is produced by SIC and their usual partners, SP Televisão. This year, there are no telenovelas from Brazil, but Portugal has represented the Portuguese speaking public very well thus far. ( Ouro Verde won last year! )


2. Arts Programming

The theatre has been recognized duly this year as Brazil gets nominated for the production, Ópera Aberta – Os Pescadores de Pérolas, produced by HBO Latin America / and O2 Filmes seeks to represent Arts Programming from Brazil.




3. Best Performance by an Actor
Raphael Logam, the Brazilian actor, has gotten nominated for the series Impure (Impuros). Impure is produced by Fox Networks Group Latam-Brazil and the Barry Company.



4. Best Performance by an Actress

Our darling actress, Marjorie Estiano, who has graced our screens in numerous Globo telenovelas becomes a nominee representing the Brazilian flag for her role in the hit Globo and O2 Filmes medical series, Under Pressure (Sob Pressão)

5. Comedy

Brazilian Comedy is for the truly hilarious. And that is why this year, Brazil's representative in the Comedy section is the Netflix comedy, The Last Hangover ( Especial de Natal ) Porta dos Fundos. The Last Hangover is a co-production of Netflix and Porta dos Fundos.


6. Documentary

The Brazilian documentary scene has not been left out as the emotional and revealing documentary, The First Stone – The Rise of Lynching in Brazil ( A Primeira Pedra ) gets the nomination. The documentary is a production of Canal Futura and Couro de Rato

7. Drama Series

The highly provocative Drama Series, One Against All (1 Contra Todos) has been nominated for the Drama series and it highly deserves it, seeing the positive reviews the series has managed to generate. One Against All is a production of Fox Networks Group LATAM-Brazil and Conspiração filmes.


8. Short Forms

For the short forms category, NatGeo's series Hack The City, produced by Intel, has been nominated. It is a series heavily connected to the computer company, INTEL


9. TV Movie/Mini-Series

Globo receives this nomination for the series If I Close My Eyes Now ( Se Eu Fechar Of Olhos Agora)


The International Emmy Awards 2019 will take place of 25th November, at the Hilton Hotel New York City
